Notes: Artist: Pink Floyd Venue: Frankfurt Festhalle Date: 27Jan77 Title: Heartbeat, Pigmeat Label: Man of Leisure Music (MoLM) Source: MoLM vinyl archives Fourth performance of 55 Animals Tour Concerts. Second night of two gigs at the Frankfurt venue. Mastered to disc from a meticulously preserved vinyl source by Flynn of Man of Leisure Music (MoLM). Marbled grey and charcoal discs, first released in 1987 by Crazy Diamond Productions, and titled "Welcome to the Machine." Nice picture of Dave on the cover and Mr. Screen on the back. Components: Sony PS-LX250H turntable, running through a Sony STR-DE895 receiver with an optical connection to a Harman/Kardon CDR26 component burner. LP> PS-LX250H> STR-DE895> HK CDR26> EAC> SHN Comments: From the condition of the vinyl to the clarity and fullness of sound, this roio is a must for serious collectors of Pink Floyd's 1977 Animals Tour. While it's an incomplete show (90% of Sheep is missing and there are no encores), it's arguably the best sounding source from this specific date. With all the totally unknown gen source stuff in circulation, here's a SHN of the real deal. Roger does not "number" this show during Pigs (3do). DISC ONE: side one 1.) end of Sheep 1:59 2.) The audience is pretty excited too. Sounds as sourced from a low generation tape since it's enough bright, though a bit hissy and at times distorted. the speed is not always right ... again I dunno why but I catch it always on Pigs (bah). Money has serious speed problems, seems like from a different source, but it's not ... I guess it sounds not so well just because of the taper changing of place between the end of the show and he beginning of the encore and almost certainly because of problems with the recorder’s batteries. oh, well better this way than nothing at all. the "California Pigs" RoIO is hardly circulating reporting this date but it's really Frankfurt 27 Jan. 77 Waters screeches 30-10 at 13.49 (3rd verse) on Pigs (3DO) someone suppose it sounds rather as 32 ..

This recording is from 7 May, it is not not the fake that has been floating around, edited and disguised to be something that it is not. Now that that is out of the way... There is a fair amount of hiss and mic saturation during the loudest riffs. At times, it sounds as if Roger has his mic in his mouth. It doesn't make this recording unlistenable, but it is there and can be annoying. As for the performance, the boys definitely messed up a lot that night! While this was not their best performance of the tour, you can tell they had fun. 'SOYCD (Pts. VI-IX)' is very good, clocking in at almost 23 minutes. 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' is one of the longer versions from the tour. There is a small cut between 'SOYCD (Pts. I-V)' and 'Welcome To The Machine'. There also seems to be a different source used for the encore. Not confirmed, but possible. Roger squeals "30-10" or "32" during 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)', third verse. The sound quality is VG for most of the tape. The fun performance, however, makes this a solid 7/10 in overall quality. Not the best 1977 recording out there, but it's probably from a lower generation recording. I think the Money recording may be from the same taper, but he moved slightly and swapped out tapes. And, the tape that he used was a tape with other music already on it, which bleeds over. He might have had it as an emergency spare . . . and who knew that the boys would play a 22 minute SOYCD? The taper was obviously sitting in the field, which is evident by the many shouts of "sit down" from the audience. Eac'd by sydb sydb@optonline.net ***Do not encode to MP3 -- Do not encode to FLAC***

Notes: Pink Floyd 8mm - Harvested Records (HRV DVD 009) I discovered most of these 8mm films over 20 years ago and have enjoyed watching my low gen VHS copies ever since. When I began archiving my collection onto DVD, I knew that one day I'd be faced with the task of digitally remastering these old 8mm films. I was fortunate enough to know the person that purchased the original films of the Hollywood Bowl and LA Sports Arena which were professionally transferred to S-VHS tape in the late 80's. This person was kind enough to loan me his master which I captured and used as the source for this DVD. I wish I could say that the Vienna footage was any better than what has been in circulation, but there's a good chance that those videos used mine as a source anyway. The short Anaheim 77 footage and the newly surfaced Munich 77 footage round this collection off nicely. There's not much available in regards to video footage from 1972-1977 (a very significant time in the band's history, especially in regards to live performance), so hopefully this will fill in a few of the gaps for the time being. Every single shot is not in perfect synch, and some artistic license has been applied throughout. I also chose to end the DVD with the Munich footage, opting to stray from the actual chronological order. 8mm took me two years to finish, working in my spare time, and frequently getting frustrated and stuck. I replaced all the audio from the original footage that had live sound (LA 75, Vienna 77) and synched up the correct audio to the rest, which was never properly done until now.
