Notes: A remaster in 44.1k (CD resolution) from the 32k master for anyone who cannot play 32k audio files. Sample rate converted with Pro Tools highest quality setting. This will be desirable over the on-the-fly SRC built into many media players. Technically this is a LOSSY conversion in a higher quality format (any digital SRC is lossy). However, since the only way to listen to the master LOSSLESSLY would be with hardware DACs that support 32k, this SRC version done under controlled conditions may be desirable. Note that the filler tracks (OOTD,Echoes) from 5-21-1972 from the original DAT have not been included here as there are far better and more complete recordings available. 2 sources of different quality and unknown generation > 32k DAT > SHN > ProTools(SRC@44.1+levels) > AIFF > FLAC 1. THE AMAZING PUDDING (19:00m) Comments well i thought the other unprocessed sources were the best versions out there, but i was wrong. What a really nice surprise, this comes from a DAT@32khz (some other DATs at 48Khz were resampled from this one, so originally it is 32khz), and being 32khz or whatever, this sounds nice. Sounds brighter, clearer & louder than the other sources, specially StC & AHM which sound superior to the rest of the recording as on the other versions. Also, frequencies here look pretty nice really, and i dont hear this was processed at all. I received this as a long SHN dump straight from the DAT, it came with StC as first track as on many other versions, so i moved it before AHM to make the right setlist. Also, i removed 16 seconds of applause repeated at the end of IO. I have the original untracked/unedited SHN file if you want that. Now, about the imperfections of this recording. One thing about the 'swoshing cymbals' that are native to this recording, at first i thought that a pre-recorded tape was used cos on the louder parts you hear like 2 different bands playing, but i really think now that maybe the media the taper used was damaged, cos the sowshing noise and the 'pre-recorded' tape thing only appear on the louder parts. When the music gets quiet you dont hear anything strange noise or swoshing cymbales on the back, except the hiss. First 3 tracks are mostly damaged by this, but Embryo & IO are almost free of this imperfection. Now the interesting stuff. StC & AHM sounds clearly different, brighter and better defined than the rest of the recording. The announcement before AHM is from the main source, you can hear the sudden change of sound. I have many theories about this, but the fact of that patch on the announcement before AHM makes me think this is from 2 different recorders (StC & AHM being recorder 2 and the rest being recorder 1). Of course. We've seen too many releases of recordings that are patches from 2 recorders, like 1972-11-15 or 1972-10-21 where one recorder was used for the music mainly and the other for the audience/chatter parts. I think this is another case, but i dont have any more info about this apart of my research. About the performance, this is one of my favorites shows, they were really on fire that night. -gbc ************************************************** **************** This originally had STCFTHOTS as track 1. but... The trackorder has been changed and is not correct. According to 'In The Flesh' by Povey and Russell the correct order should be: Astronomy Domine/Careful With That Axe, Eugene/Cymbaline/A Saucerful Of Secrets/The Embryo/Interstellar Overdrive/Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun/The Amazing Pudding (Consequently) Considering setlists of the period, consistent sound quality of STCFTHOTS and Consequently vs the rest, the extra isolated applause bit after IO applause cuts off which suggests the removal of a song, the above comment sounds reasonable. I can also see someone making a production decision to open the disc with one of the better sounding tracks vs audience banter from the lesser source since the alleged opening song is missing. So that's the track order I went with. Additional remaster notes: In ProTools the files were sample rate converted to 44.1k with the highest quality settings. The lever dropped drastically early in track 1 on the master. This was corrected. All level correction in the positive direction with no limiting of any kind. STCFTHOTS and Consequently have a loud 240Hz tone in the recording (likely some artifact from the original recorder or subsequent dub). This was reduced with Waves Linear Phase EQ. Un-eq'd versions are included as extra tracks. Some very loud microphone bumps were removed from CWTAE. The little repeated bit at the start of Embryo and other "silent" pauses removed. The master is a 32k recording which means a top frequency responce of 16kHz. ANY digital eqing in the high end tends to do more harm than good in these types of recordings IMHO. Thanks to the many people involved from taping to transferring, sharing and note taking. As usual, no selling, share with everyone and try not to molest the poor thing any further with mp3. JFE 2008 Total running time 1 hour 21 mins 20 secs A new 1st gen source for Steve B's recording of this concert, which is clearer and has better high end than previous copies. You may have my August 2015 2nd gen source. The hiss on the 2nd gen oscillates slightly, making it more distracting. If you concentrate on Nick's cymbals and hi-hats they are more present on this 1st gen. I could have taken a subtle decrackler to my transfer but a completely raw release appealed to me. A bit of trivia for people outside the UK; Roger's "I can''ear ya" before STC is mimicking a North / East London accent. Vince 666 checked the recording speed for me and it runs slow by up to 1%. In more detail: OOTD is just around 1% slow CWTAE is around 0,5% slow Echoes is OK or at max 0,5% slow ASOS is around 1% slow Blues is around 0,5% slow STC is around 1% (around the beginning) to 0,5% slow (around the end) Careful53 cassettes / Neonknight tape transfer, July 2017

One Of These Days 13. Careful With That Axe Eugene DISC TWO: (missing in this torrent) 1. Echoes 2. Saucerful Of Secrets 3. Blues 4. Set The Controls Comments: ok my latest revision that was torrented this year(2005) still had some errors. the aud portion of us and them was amplified too much! which caused a distorion noise in the chorus'. here i fixed us and them. this is the best i could fix this without redoing it! disc2 was fine so no need to re-torrent it. for the new guys: this is a composite of an aud source and a supposed sbd source. both are the best sounding sources for this show IMO. the supposed sbd source seems to have nr applied but im not the one that did it. it still sounds superb though. the aud source comes from a Master>minidisc>CDR source. it is not nearly as good but is about ex-/vg+ the whole DSOTM is from the supposed sbd except "us and them" and 10sec of "Time" and the end of "eclipse". OOTD and Careful are completely from the Aud source.

Notes: Well here we go. The first completely complete version of the famous 4th Rainbow show. I assembled this with multiple master tapes provided to me by WRomanus. I've seen versions of the first set fixed (Best And The Rest Of Tour 72) but I was never happy with the segues. As far as it goes this is the most complete this show is going to get. The only thing I didn't include was the first 20 seconds of the beginning, as this is just mic noise as the taper sets up his gear. These tapes are of varying qualities and generations, but I've done my best to make the transitions painless. I used NR and hiss reduction only when it was necessary, mostly during the tune ups. I stereo spatialized everything not from Best Of Tour 72 so it would sound more like that does. The abbreviations for the master tapes are as follows: BOT72 = Best Of Tour 72. 1st pressing pristine vinyl. MC = Master Clone - A 2nd gen copy of what I believe to be taper 2. Not that tonally brilliant, but a good clean recording, for the most part complete. FS = Franco S., a big Italian collector living in Germany. Same original source as MC N = Nostrum, coming from WRomanus and Yogaman Collections. JG = From Jason G. USA. From this source only the phrase "this is Echoes", because it was much more audible on this version. Probably taper 1. ACR = Atomic Crow Recording - this version is pretty much the same as MC, but claims to be 4th gen. It contains portions not on MC, so I used it as a patch. A little distortion and some NR artifacts made me not use this as the basis. CD 1 Set 1 01 Heart Beat Intro (Speak To Me) 02 Breathe 03 Travel Sequence 04 Time 05 Breathe (reprise) 06 Mortality Sequence (Ecclesiastes) 07 Money 08 Us And Them 09 Any Colour You Like 10 Brain Damage 11 Eclipse Set 2 12 Tune Ups 13 One Of These Days 14 Tune Ups 15 Careful With That Axe, Eugene CD 2 Set 2 (cont'd) 01 Tune Ups 02 Echoes/Encore Break Encores 03 Audience Requests/Tune Ups 04 A Saucerful Of Secrets 05 Something Different (Blues) 06 Encore Break/Audience Requests 07 Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun For set 1 I used the BOT72. Heart Beat Intro (Speak To Me) is from FS. I filled the missing portions in Time and Us and Them with MC. Eclipse is ended with the ACR tape. The BOT72 (and all subsequent versions) slows down gradually during the second half of Money and continues until the break in Us and Them where the piece is missing. I speed corrected this. All the songs for the set 2 are from MC. The tune up before OOTD is from N. The tune up between OOTD and CWTAE is from FS. The dialogue is from ACR. Tune ups before Echoes are from FS, but the announcement of the song title is from JG as mentioned above. Tune Ups between Echoes and ASOS are from N. Tune up after Something Different is from FS. At this point the alignment of the tape seems to be real bad, but its generations down the line. I used the right channel only as the left was pretty bad. There is a 2db boost in the left channel on all content from MC beginning at CWTAE. All pieces from FS are speed corrected.

Notes: We made this operation more than one year ago with the release of "In Rainbow Light". This release goes even further and upgrades, restores and completes the content of the original LP version of The Best of Tour 72 only, primarily for those older collectors who have had it for many years. A sort of emotional commemoration of another famous and time honored bootleg LP. The first edition was released on black vinyl in 1972 in Europe by the Tour 72 label. Pink Floyd were excited to be able to develop new material on the road but were horrified to learn of a bootleg album that was released containing a complete performance of the piece recorded in February of 1972 at the Rainbow Theatre. The bootleg was issued a mere six weeks after the concert, about a full year prior to an official release. Professionally packaged, the unit reportedly sold in excess of 100,000 copies, many thinking it was the real thing. Trivia note: around this same time the Omayyad LP was released in USA. The Best of Tour 72 had large success and was reissued and re-bootlegged many, many times due to the stunning sound quality and the full presence of unissued songs. Four songs were shorted: Heart Beat Intro, Time, Us and Them and Eclipsed. We don't know why. May be the reason was the tape length or some problems on it or the capability of the LP to support the whole suite. Here you can AT LAST listen to the whole Dark Side suite in the best Sound Quality ever, without having to be "traumatized" as we were for more than 30 years by the cuts. The Rainbow Theatre was booked for three shows for press introduction to Dark Side of the Moon but soon a fourth show was set due to the big response. This extra show was to be played on Sunday 20th February 1972 at 8:00 p.m. For the first time the title Dark Side of the Moon was used. In "The Free Program of Rainbow Theatre, n.13" we can read: "The Dark Side of the Moon - A Piece for Assorted Lunatics" A month before they were in this theatre to rehearse for three days, to try the new suite together with the new mixer, the new quadrophonic system and the new light show. The suite was performed ten times around England before the Rainbow' nights. It already changed a little from first couple of nights in Brighton and Portsmouth. Eclipsed was added. More changes would occur before the end of the year. A generation and more of fans thought this album was recorded on the 17th of February, but many years later we all learned that it was the 20th, the fourth Rainbow show. - Titles and Songs - The title of the boot refers to the whole small British tour of January and February 1972. The names of the songs reflect the names used on the studio track sheets early in the recording of the DSotM album. We didn't dare to be totally philologic so we didn't call The Mortality Sequence ...Religious Section (!) and Eclipsed simply End. For the Intro we used "Heart Beat" to tribute the first time that it was used by Pink Floyd, during the Zabriskie Point Sessions. For what its worth, we didn't like the simple "Scat" title for Any Colour You Like, so we mixed together all those we saw around in more than 30 years. - Artwork - by WRomanus I have derived the artwork from the first release with an eye to the one of "In Rainbow Light". The first LP release artwork was clearly derived from Atom Heart Mother, pigs instead cows both in the grass, with nothing else than the title and the venues of the tour. I took some parts of the original artwork and the "rainbow light" from IRL. The title writing comes from the original as well. The front has the big sow only. Note what a "human face she has" ! The back is made by four(!) little pigs. The one on the left comes for another part of the original artwork. The CD label comes from the original first LP release. The picture of the "inside back" is really the dark side of the moon. Inside the booklet you can see pictures of the original parts of the first release and some orphants of those days. A no coommon pic of Rick is under the first page of notes. You can see croppings of the studio sheets with the basic titles as well. As you can see you have many possibilities to make your favourite artwork. -Sources and Assembling- by }{eywood I assembled this with multiple master tapes provided to me by WRomanus. I've seen versions of the first set fixed (Best And The Rest Of Tour 72) but I was never happy with the segues. As far as it goes this is the most complete this album is going to get. The abbreviations for the master tapes are as follows: BOT72 = Best Of Tour 72. 1st pressing pristine vinyl. MC = Master Clone - A Copy of the Master (?) of what I believe to be taper 2. Not that tonally brilliant, but a good clean recording. JB = 1st gen incomplete source of 20th Feb recorded by John Baxter, provided to us by LordSnooty. The only thing I didn't include was the first 20 seconds of the beginning, as this is just mic noise as the taper sets up his gear. These tapes are of varying qualities and generations, but I've done my best to make the transitions painless. I used NR and hiss reduction sparingly, mostly to get the patches to sound as clean as the main album material. I stereo spatialized everything not from Best Of Tour 72 so it would sound more like that does. The BOT72 (and all subsequent versions) slows down gradually during the second half of Money and continues until the break in Us and Them where the piece is missing. I speed corrected this. Heart Beat Intro, the bulk of Us And Them and the ending of Eclipse are from JB. I filled the missing portion in Time with MC. We hope this pleases everyone out there.

Notes: Excellent work by splicing in the material missing from the famed "Best of Tour '72" by inserting another recorder for the three cuts, then adding the entire second set to make a complete recording. btw...this is definitely not a matrix, but a splice, with material simply edited in where missing, NOT mixed together.

Notes: In Rainbow Light (}{eywood/Wromanus multi-source comp) Well here we go.
