06/08/69   The Palomino Club      North Hollywood   Master Reel > DAT or CD-R > CD-R(1) > FLAC.   Notes from source: Almost 15 years ago, a friend of mine told me that a co-worker of his had recorded the Flying Burrito Brothers in the late '60s. As the story goes, the guy was something of an audiophile and had recorded this show on reel to reel in stereo, with one mic on the stage and another spread far apart. While the recording had circulated before, the guy went back to his original reels and did what was described as a "meticulous transfer." I don't know if it was done on a computer or on a standalone, but what was sent to me were two CD-Rs. I'm pretty sure they were straight off his DAT or the CD-R set he had made for himself direct from the reels. The quality of his transfer was superior to anything I had heard before The credits below are from the notes he sent to me with the discs. Some titles and spellings differ slightly from what's listed on some websites as are the order of the sets. You make the call.    flac   A+

03/18/82   Mojo's      Arcata   Master: unknown mics > cassette master Recorded by Tim Vallee   Notes: These two shows were recorded by Tim Vallee. Tim was a life-long resident of Eureka CA and a GD fanatic from way back when and was the first full-blown taping maniac I ever met - he sadly passed away in 1996 and his massive music collection and mountains of posters and memorabilia were divided up by family members and dispersed to who knows where. Tim made me the 1st gen cassette copies that were used for these SHNs back in 1984. I'd like to dedicate these SHNs to Tim's memory - these shows were one of the highlights of his life, and my taping world and Humboldt County in general have not been the same since his passing.       A

10/02/88   Costa Mesa Amphitheatre      Costa Mesa   This is a good audience recording   * with Guests: Los Lobos (Cesar Rosas) The Fabulous Thunderbirds (Jimmy Vaughn) Stevie Ray Vaughn This is a good aud, with some problems as indicated in the text file, and the usual few basses sound quality when the show is happening in a big open air space, but the show is so terrific that it deserves to be heard, expecially for the part with guests..not always you can have the perfect sound with the super show, but sometime you've got to get over it....   flac   A
